Pai Gow Poker
Pai Gow Poker is a Poker variant that has combined with the Chinese game of Pai Gow. The idea is to arrange the seven cards that you are dealt in to two separate hands. One of the hands should contain 5 cards and be the better hand. If you fail to make it the better hand you will be disqualified, it’s harsh but it’s the rules of Pai Gow Poker. The other hand should be the weaker hand of the both and obviously contain 2 cards.
The hands in Pai Gow Poker are ranked as in regular poker with the exception that the straight starting with Ace and ending with 5 (A,2,3,4,5) is considered the second best straight.
When you have sorted your hands it’s time to compare them with the bank and if you beat the bank with both your hands you will win. In all other cases the bank will win. When you are comparing hands you compare your 5 card hand with the banks 5 card hand first and after that you compare the 2 card hand to the banks 2 card hand.
The game of Pai Gow Poker is played with a regular 52 card deck and with one of the Jokers added. This gives the pleasant opportunity of once in a while beating the bank with a good hand of 5 aces.
