Annette Obrestad
Though not being one of the biggest poker players in the world yet, this girl deserves her attention because of her mere age. Born in 1988 in Norway, she already competes with some of the best players in the world. Annette Obrestad is the youngest person ever to have won a World Series of Poker bracelet and her name is particularly famous in the online world of poker. There, her name is “Annette_15”, and should you ever stumble upon that nick, you’d better leave the competition. Cause for her, there pretty much is none. Only between September 2006 and February 2007 she won more than $500 000 on Poker Stars, $136 000 on Full Tilt Poker and $200 000 on UltimateBet. She has also bedazzled her audience by playing only based on the bets and the positions, while not looking at her cards at all. However, she caused some controversy when she admitted on a blog that she at one time had let someone else play for her.
Just recently, on March 2 this year (2008), Annette scored the first place in the PokerStars Sunday Hundred Grand, which is a tournament with only $11 in buy-in, but with 20 000 competitors. She won $20 000 from that contest alone and it is very likely that her star on the poker sky will only keep shining brighter and brighter.
